The Magistrate turns his back on a poor litigant, preferring to listen to the corrupting whispers of a demon who is blowing in his ear. But meanwhile, even as he enjoys the boons of this world, Death is at his feet with an hourglass and a shovel ready to dig the grave that he will soon be inhabiting. Motifs such as the one dealing with the Magistrate and the corrupt Judge remind the audience that the powerful and unjust of this world will eventually face punishment in the next one.
